Meet Chris Chang, LMFT: Creating Space for Healing, Connection, and Growth

At New Ground Counseling, we believe that healing happens when people feel truly seen, heard, and supported. One of our therapists, Chris Chang, LMFT, brings this belief into every session through compassion, curiosity, and deep empathy.

Chris works with couples, families, individuals, adults, and teens. While he serves a wide range of clients, he has a special passion for helping couples and families navigate conflict, reconnect, and build healthier relationships.

Chris understands that our early experiences and life challenges shape the stories we tell ourselves — and often those stories are filled with disconnection, self-doubt, or the belief that something is “wrong” with us. In therapy, he helps clients gently explore those narratives and begin rewriting them in ways that lead to healing and empowerment.

What does Chris emphasize with couples?

In couples therapy, Chris creates a safe, structured environment where partners can slow down during moments of conflict. By helping each person feel attuned to and heard, he works to prevent arguments from escalating and encourages deeper understanding and connection.

Rather than positioning himself as an expert with all the answers, Chris brings his own humanity into the therapy room. He believes meaningful change happens when clients know they’re not alone — that someone is walking alongside them who understands struggle and growth firsthand.

If you’re seeking couples counseling, family therapy, or individual support rooted in compassion and connection, Chris Chang is here to help.
