New Ground Started in a Local Church.

New Ground Counseling was founded in 2014 by a small group of pastors, from different churches, who were also licensed counselors. We were passionate about caring for others through counseling, while also seeing the local church & its people as God’s primary plan for belonging and transformation. We acknowledged that the counseling field desperately needs to be permeated by Christians who aren’t afraid to address spirituality in the counseling office. Conjointly, we saw that the church desired greater training in how to care for others (especially with complex difficulties).

These two needs have largely driven our mission to equip the church and include Jesus in counseling. We chose to form our individual counseling offices in our respective local churches. Since that time, we have been partnering with local churches to house New Ground offices, with counselors who can support their mission and provide supplemental care.

How does New Ground Partner with Churches?

We partner with churches to provide office space for New Ground counselors to conduct counseling during the week, who in turn offer:

DISCOUNTED COUNSELING

Members at your church get a discount on our therapy services, making counseling both more convenient and affordable.  In short, it helps more of your people get good care.

CARE TRAINING

We have a number of trainings we offer to churches, for both leaders & congregants to understand their story, see how God has cared for them, and learn how to care well for others.  See examples of these below.

Example Trainings

”THE GOSPEL CARE CLASS”

This class is a series of videos, filmed in 2021 at Reach Church. The class entails much of how New Ground approaches and thinks about counseling others. It also demonstrates our love for the church as clinicians.

“DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, & HOPE”

This class was offered online in the height of the 2020 pandemic, in order to ask, “How can we hear from God and have hope in the midst of these struggles?”

NW BIBLICAL COUNSELING CONFERENCE

We have taught at this conference in both 2019 and 2021. Some of these topics included: Different Ways to Pray through Struggles, Anxiety & the Christian, and How to Change Deeply with Jesus.
