Our Guiding Values

All of our counselors hold a set of commitments, ideals, and principles that guide the counseling process.  Here are some key guiding values that we carry into counseling.

Guiding Values

1) WHOLE-PERSON CARE

We believe healing involves the whole person — mind, body, emotions, relationships, and spirit. We care for people as integrated human beings, not problems to be solved. We believe that the work of healing is meant to move down into our bodies, shaping not only what we think, but how we live, relate, rest, and experience the world.

2) HIGH QUALITY CLINICAL WORK

As Licensed Counselors, we bring specialized clinical training, experience, and care into the therapy room. We thoughtfully companion with people through complex pain, offering insight, perspective, and evidence-based processes that support meaningful healing and growth. We believe deeply in the work of therapy and are committed to continually learning, growing, and refining our craft.

3) SAFE RELATIONSHIPS CHANGE PEOPLE

We believe transformation happens through honest, compassionate, and trustworthy relationships. Therapy should be a place where people experience safety, dignity, and genuine care. When we have relational experiences (in counseling) that challenge our old narratives, characters, and patterns (i.e. of isolation, harm, fear, codependency, etc.), powerful new growth can occur.

4) THE VALUE OF YOUR STORY (THE INFLUENCE OF THE PAST)

We deeply value the personal stories of individuals, which have brought them to this present moment—with all their joys and tragedies. Understanding your story can give you explanations for your present hurts, compassion for your imperfections, and invitation to a different future. Although persons are greatly influenced by the past, we hold hope that we need not be defined by or enslaved by the past.

5) FAITH CAN BE PART OF HEALING

We believe spiritual formation & emotional healing are often deeply connected. Our understanding of God can shape the way we view suffering, healing, relationships, identity, and growth. While our work is grounded in the Christian story and the hope found in Jesus, we strive to create a space where people of many backgrounds and beliefs feel respected, cared for, and free to explore honestly. We welcome spiritual conversation without pressure, persuasion, or coercion.

6) GROWTH REQUIRES COURAGE + HOPE

We believe healing and growth are possible, even when life feels painful, stuck, or fractured. Meaningful change often requires courage, humility, honesty, and the willingness to take intentional steps toward healing and renewal. At times, we need others to hold hope for us — to remind us that change is possible and help us take the next step forward.

7) HEALING HAPPENS IN (SAFE) COMMUNITY

We believe people are not meant to heal alone. Healing often happens through safe, honest, and caring relationships. Healthy friendships, families, churches, and communities can become places of restoration, encouragement, truth-telling, and hope — reminding us of our true selves when we feel lost, disconnected, or alone. Because of this, we encourage clients to pursue meaningful community (like a safe church) & supportive relationships beyond therapy itself.
