Hi, I’m a counselor and also the Owner & Supervising Therapist of New Ground Counseling! Since 2014, we have served thousands of clients. Along the way, we've also had the privilege of finding, training, and mentoring exceptional counselors who share our mission of providing 1) High Quality Clinical Care that is 2) Uniquely Christian.

As you browse our counselors, you'll notice that each has pursued excellence in particular areas—whether that's child therapy, trauma, grief, marriage, anxiety, or something else. Those different passions and specialties have helped make New Ground a place where all kinds of people can find someone who truly understands their story.

We often say, "All you need to grow is curiosity." By that we mean the willingness to wonder about your own heart rather than simply judge it. Curiosity creates space for healing. It invites us to ask, "Why do I react this way?" "What happened to me?" "What do I really long for?" We believe lasting change begins there.

Whether you end up working with me or another member of our team, my hope is that you find a counselor who helps you feel known, understood, and gently challenged toward the life God is inviting you into.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary in Portland. Before this, I received undergraduate degrees in Youth Ministry and Bible from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. My training is focused on theology, the Bible, and counseling. I am a licensed counselor with a LMHC license.

I’ve had the joy of counseling in many settings, including a therapeutic high school (for 8 years), non-profits, and ministries. Over the past 15 years, I’ve supervised and trained many counselors who see their faith as critical & inseparable from their counseling. I also serve on staff at Reach Church (https://reachchurch.cc) as the Counseling Pastor.

AREAS OF FOCUS

As a therapist, I began with teens and young adults, but now primarily see adults and married couples. Areas I have focused on are infidelity; marriage counseling; pornography and sexual addictions; anger; substance addictions; and anxiety. If you're unsure if I can help, just message us!

ABOUT ME

I’m husband to an even better counselor (Kindal) & father to four beautiful kids. When I’m not hanging with my children, I enjoy reading, exercising, and watching college football. My family moved to the Northwest some time ago to join a local church, where we’ve made memories with wonderful people for over 20 years.
