LMHCA

Vickie Jo

Our stories can be complicated, and the details of our story can affect us in unspoken ways. Sometimes exploring our stories and speaking them out loud, helps us to finally bring the attention and gentle care needed to our hurting parts that need a voice.

My hope as a counselor is to come along side others in their story with empathy and gentle care. To listen well to the details and experiences that have shaped us. To reflect and sometimes challenge the assumptions we have picked up along the way, and to let God shine his light on the places He wants to bring His truth and healing. I hope to offer a space of compassion, grace and comfort that convey God’s truth in love.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

I received both my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. I currently hold a Mental Health Counselor Associates license and am currently working toward my LMHC licensure in the state of Washington. I have worked with children, adolescents, young adults and adults and enjoy carrying a caseload that is diverse in age and presenting issues.

ABOUT ME

I believe I became a counselor not because of my strengths but possibly more because I have been aware of my own weaknesses, childhood wounds, and unmet needs. This leads me to desire to be connected to God and others with honesty and compassion. I believe God created us for connection and community, and that often when we have wounds we don’t know how to process or care for, it is helpful to connect with someone to hear our story and help us learn how to attune our attention to those wounds that have needed care.

I am married to my husband of 20+years, who is almost my complete opposite in personality, which has taught us to learn from each other, and as God designed, for us to be a help to one another. I have the privilege to be a mother to three kiddos who daily remind me that being a parent is both the hardest and best job in the world.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
